Who are we – People

Stephen Picken is Professor of Polymer materials at the TU Delft Chemical Engineering Department. Trained as a theoretical/experimental solid state physicist his main specialisation is related to investigation and optimisation of advanced polymer based materials. This can concern both mechanical and functional properties, varying from living polymer based ultra soft gels to state of the art super-fibres, LC polymers for high performance composites, optical components, polymers for fuel-cell and battery applications. As one of the founders of Slimy Green Stuff BV he is very excited about the properties and underlying science of all natural based high performance biopolymer nanocomposites. This class of materials seems to outperform many man-made polymer systems while also being cheap, sustainable and environmentally friendly. He has published over 250 peer reviewed publications (H=50), ~20 patents and has supervised ~30 PhD students.

ronaldRonald Gelderblom is Investment Manager at Delft Enterprises (DE), the one-stop-shop for entrepreneurship at TU Delft. DE participates in spin-out companies originating from the scientific research of TU Delft and manages instruments (for example Proof of Concept funding) that support TU Delft linked start-ups. Ronald is involved in setting up the spin-outs and managing the portfolio of DE. He also represents TU Delft in the selection committee of YES!Delft (incubator) and the fund committee of Mainport Innovation Fund. Before joining TU Delft, Ronald worked at B&S International, an international wholesale and distribution company in fast moving consumer goods. At B&S International he was responsible for the group’s financial reporting and involved in financing, acquisition and change management.

Veby Agus is Management assistant at the TU Delft Chemical Engineering Department and Project Manager at SGS B.V.
